Happy holidays in Dordogne ! Arrival in Brive in the afternoon. You can take possession of your rental vehicle for your entire vacation, then travel freely to your accommodation located on the outskirts of the center, in Varetz.
You’ll be staying in a charming hotel steeped in history. On the borders of the Limousin, Périgord and Quercy regions, you’ll be welcomed to the heart of a 10-hectare estate set between vineyards and valleys. You’ll take up residence in one of the château’s 27 rooms to get your journey into the land of history off to the best possible start…
Then spend the rest of the day exploring Brive and the surrounding area. The main reason for coming here is to get away from it all!

Depending on the season, enjoy the Brive festival in July; the Pans de Travassac site; the Lac du Causse where you can paddle; the giant labyrinth of the Colette gardens in Varetz; a ULM flight over the Brive region; dinner in your accommodation, where chef Nicolas offers creative gourmet cuisine!
Drive to the Quercy Regional Park and its charming villages! Before reaching your stopover, make a stop at Loubressac, a perched village classified as one of France’s most beautiful villages, which already offers panoramic views over the Dordogne Valley. You can also go to Autoire, especially for the view of the Autoire cirque and the Château des Anglais, where the cliffside path is splendid!
You’ll set down your suitcases in Lacave, with its beautiful pebble beaches, Belcastel and Treyne castles perched above the river and its caves. One of its castles will also welcome you for the night…
What to see :
There are many other unmissable villages, such as Montvalent, Saint-Jean-Lespinasse and Saint-Céré, whose towers house the tapestries of the Jean-Lurçat museum. Take your pick!
Your vacation continues towards Roque-Gageac, an enchanting place nestled under the steep cliffs, above the Dordogne. Climb the steep streets to the 12th-century church and admire the view. You can enjoy a different view of the village, the unspoilt countryside and the surrounding castles from a gabare, the old boat used by the boatmen of yesteryear. A way to discover or rediscover a piece of Périgord history.

The château de la Malartrie, the château and gardens of Marqueyssac, the château de Lacoste and Castelnaud.
A new day of vacation which begins early this morning, to take the road to an emblematic historical site : the Lascaux caves. There are 4 of them but only one exists, discovered in 1940, closed to the public in order to preserve it. The other caves were later opened to the public.
Then it’s off to Périgueux! A medieval center, easy to explore thanks to its pedestrian streets. You’ll be staying in an apartment in the historic center.
We recommend you leave a little earlier to get a good look at the region. On the way, stop off at Château de Bourdeilles. Château de Bourdeilles is more than just a castle. We visit 2 castles from different eras, one Renaissance and the other medieval, both overlooking the Dronne valley.
To do : Lunch at the Les promenades restaurant in Bourdeilles.
Road to the next stage of your holidays in Périgord, Brantôme, a typical Périgord village, at the gates of the Regional Park. Here bridges, mills and fortresses make up the “Venice of Périgord”. You’ll be staying in a former Abbey founded in 769 by Charlemagne, now a charming hotel, one of the region’s pearls!
A foray into one of the world’s greenest parks! Here, hiking, guided tours, local produce tasting, picnics, mountain biking or vélo-rail, with the family or just the two of you, the Parc du Périgord has a lot to offer.

You’ll get on the road a little early so you can drive to Brive, enjoy the beautiful countryside and return your rental car to the station. Boarding and end of your vacation in Dordogne and Périgord.
