Day 1 : Havana

Have a nice trip to Cuba ! Meeting at the airport and private transfer to Old Havana, where we spend 3 nights at Casa Loft. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Havana has preserved its important colonial past, with architecture as flamboyant as the spirit of its inhabitants.

Days 2 and 3 : Havana

Free day to discover Havana!
What to see / What to do: Havana has preserved the traces of its tumultuous past, from the colonial era to the Revolution. But it’s the remnants of Spanish rule in Cuba that are most remarkable, thanks to their extraordinary architecture. The old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a veritable open-air museum, with some of the country’s finest monuments and museums. It’s right next to the Vedado district, where almost all the hotels, restaurants and entertainment are located. This half-breed of the New World is a feast of colonial architecture, a decadent city in every sense of the word, and that’s what gives it such charm. Discover Old Havana on foot, visit the Palace of the Captains General and take a ride in an American convertible car through Vedado.

Day 4 : Havana – Trinidad

Pick up the rental car and continue your trip to Cuba towards Trinidad (5 hours). We pass the dense rainforest of the Ciénaga de Zapata, the palm-fringed savannah, the cane plantations on the outskirts of Cienfuegos, then the Caribbean as far as Trinidad. Settle in for 2 nights in a colonial-style casa particular.
At the end of Rue Frank Pais stands the gateway to this restored old house. Built in the second half of the 19th century, its position marks the boundary between natural areas and a colonial town relatively close to the historic center. It offers excellent views of the mountains surrounding the town. The verdant patio is planted with fruit trees, mango and guava trees. Vegetables consumed during the stay are also grown there. The owner is passionate about horses, and breeds the region’s rare thoroughbreds. The rooms have been decorated in a minimalist style that highlights their spaciousness, with open-plan bathrooms, polished cement floors and softly colored walls.

Day 5 : Trinidad

For the 5th day of this cultural trip to Cuba, nothing better than the Plaza Mayor, an eloquent testimony to the past; the church of Santissima Trinidad dates from 1892, unique in Cuba for its neo-Gothic style; the Romantic museum gives an idea of the luxury in which the great colonial families lived: marble, Bohemian glassware, Spanish ceramics… And if you get a hankering for popular music and dance, go to the Casa de la Trova. For those wishing to continue their exploration of natural riches, after the Vinales valley, the Topes de Collantes natural park is not far to the north, with its pleasing tropical vigour.
High above Trinidad, in the Escambray massif, the magnificent Parque Natural Topes de Collantes has become a paradise for beginners and experienced hikers alike. A vast forest at 700m altitude, a refuge for rebels led by Che during the revolution from 1958 onwards and for anti-Castro fighters, the park offers a superb sample of Cuba’s natural wealth. No less than 110 km² for strolling in the shade of lush vegetation. Coffee trees, eucalyptus, bamboo, palms, pines and orchids share the space with a host of animals, mainly birds endemic to the island, including wild parakeets. Accessible to all, the El Cubano trail crosses this nature reserve, between hills, waterfalls and crystal-clear rivers – the refreshing swim in the natural pool is a great reward! Elevation gain: 150m – Distance covered: 3km.

Day 6 : Trinidad – Vinales

Private road transfer to Vinales (3 hours). Meadows and savannahs planted with royal palms are followed by tobacco plantations and tight bends through mountainous landscapes until you reach the entrance to the Vinales valley. Settle in for 2 nights in a Creole-style casa particular (Californian style with flat roof). A rustic, comfortable, easy-to-access building, located in the large patio at the back of a house in the village of Viñales. Original in style and simply decorated, the house opens onto the tamed nature of a large landscaped garden, thanks to wooden windows providing much appreciated natural illumination. The owners take care of every detail, offering top-quality service and gastronomy. The 15 m2 bedroom has a bright bathroom equipped with modern comforts.

Day 7 : Vinales

Free day to explore the region at your own pace.

What to see / What to do: Colorful and peaceful, the town is nestled in the heart of a valley protected by the impressive mogotes, geological formations protruding from the earth like singular appendages. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the valley stands out for its conservation of terrestrial ecosystems. We explore the town partly on foot and partly on horseback, guided by Manolo, whose enthusiasm (in French) for the preservation of this natural and cultural heritage is infectious. The day’s activities include a walk and a horseback ride, a visit to Wilfredo’s estate focusing on a sustainable development project and organic farming, a tour of the Despalillo tobacco leaf sorting center, a visit to the botanical garden and lunch with a local farmer.

Day 8 : Vinales – Cayo Levisa

Private transfer to the Palma Rubia pier, and boat crossing to the confidential hotel-island of Cayo Levisa, hidden between beach and mangrove, where we settle in for two nights. The hotel features simple rooms and bungalows linked by wooden pontoons, in the Robinson Crusoe spirit. Sublime sandy beaches, turquoise waters, extraordinary seabeds, inviting you to explore. And everywhere, the atmosphere is tranquil, the letting go natural.

Day 9 : Cayo Levisa

The small islet of Cayo Levisa lives quietly on the bangs of the hustle and bustle and crowds. Cayo Levisa is a perfect retreat for lazing on the fine sandy beaches, splashing in the translucent waters of the Gulf of Mexico far from the noise, or taking up scuba diving or catamaran sailing… On the north coast, the only beach, over 3 km long, lends itself to both lazing around and strolling. With a wealth of marine life, diving and snorkeling are a must. Around the island, coral tends to form clusters reminiscent of the Vinales mogotes. One last reason to don your fins, mask and snorkel? La Corona de San Carlos, a fabulous diving site, where you can discover fish that are normally very difficult to observe, as well as sea turtles.

Day 10 : Cayo Levisa – Havana

Fly from Holguin to Havana. Arrive and settle in for 1 night at Casa Mi Sueno. The history of this building dates back to the middle of the 18th century, more specifically to 1755. Its architecture is classified at the first level for its heritage values. It is located in the historic center of Old Havana, very close to the main squares, including the Old Square, the Place d’Armes and Saint Francis of Assisi Square. A privileged location, in the very heart of the Old Town on Calle Amargura, makes this home a quiet, privileged spot. Access to the house is via a staircase with two large resting areas that leads to a terrace at the front of the house, whose main entrance is on the second floor.

Day 11 : Havana – Departure for France

Last moments of your trip to Cuba to enjoy the city before joining the airport and your return flight. Overnight on board, arriving the next day.
