Day 1: Arrival in Pau

Arrival in the capital of Béarn in the evening. You’ll take possession of your rental vehicle to begin your itinerant journey through the region.

You’ll spend the night in a charming guesthouse just outside Pau, in Jurançon, famous for its sweet wine of the same name! A small “château”, rather an estate with a private swimming pool and a lovely view of the lake and Pau in the distance.

Things to see and do in Pau :

The old town; the Château de Pau, the National Stud, the Tower of the Giants; Tasting local wines and cheeses, etc…

Days 2 and 3: Cibert

Rendezvous at the foot of the snow-capped, cool mountains of the French Pyrenees!

You’ll spend the next two nights in a refuge converted into charming cottages. Your accommodation is located in the heart of the Ossau valley, an area rich in tradition. Its location is conducive to a return to oneself in a place that’s totally open to the outside world: on one side the soaring Pyrenean mountain range, on the other the depths of the Ossau valley, alive to the rhythm of the seasons.

What to see / What to do :

Hiking enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice here, as there are numerous trails, but above all you’ll find the famous GR10, which crosses the Pyrenees from west to east.

Pics d’Ansabère.

Day 4: Saint-Jean-Pieds de Port

Continue your journey to the Basque Country! Located on the Spanish border, on the right bank of the Nive river and at the foot of the Cize mountain passes, this is one of the most beautiful villages in France! The village is also a stopover on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route.

Here you’ll discover a rich historical and cultural heritage: the bishops’ prison, the citadel, Notre-Dame-du-Bout-du-Pont, as well as neighboring villages such as Ainhoa and Bastide-Clairence.

Day 5: Bidarray

At the foot of the Iparla, this village is a new stopover in the heart of nature! You’ll spend this stage in a renowned inn, a blend of tradition and modernity, in the heart of the hills of the inland Basque Country. Enjoy the peace and quiet, perhaps a picnic prepared by your hosts, a moment of well-being with a massage therapist or a taste of pure Ostapé water…

Days 6 and 7: Guéthary

Drive to the coast. We’re familiar with the bustling summer towns of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Anglet and Bayonne, but we’d like to take you to a quieter part of these summer seaside resorts. Guéthary… a typically Basque town, a former whale-fishing port, and also the most irresistible town on the coast, with its unspoilt charm.

Things to see and do :

The old fishing port; the Villa Saraleguinea, created in 1950; the Pierre-Louis terrace and its breathtaking views; Cenitz beach.

Days 8 and 9: Biarritz

The elegance of the Basque coast, Biarritz has been the holiday resort of France’s most senior figures throughout history! Now a popular spot for surfers, families and food lovers, it can be explored at leisure to the sound of the waves.
