Some words and expressions in the language
Sinhala and Tamil are the two official languages of Sri Lanka, and English is spoken throughout the island.

Travelers wishing to visit for less than 90 days are only authorized to enter the country on presentation of an authorization (Electronic Travel Authorization – ETA), which is subject to a fee. For stays of less than 30 days, requests can be made online. http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/, the official website with a French version, which should be used to the exclusion of all others). It is possible to apply for an ETA on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport.
For stays of 30 to 90 days, it can only be requested from the Sri Lankan embassy or consulate in the country of residence, prior to departure.
ETA authorization is not a right of entry : on arrival in Sri Lanka, visitors must carry a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry, a return ticket and proof of means for the duration of their stay.
