THE WORLD OF FASHION JEAN PAUL GAULTIER - FROM STREET TO STARS

The Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal (MBAM) present the first international exhibition dedicated to the famous French couturier. Gaultier began with the loan-to-wear in 1976 before founding his fashion house in 1997. Nicknamed "the enfant terrible of fashion" by the press in his first parade in the 1970s, Jean Paul Gaultier is undoubtedly one of the most important artists of recent decades. Its avant-garde fashion took early concerns and challenges of a multicultural society, jostling with humor sociological and aesthetic codes established. Contemporary installation, rather than retrospective fashion, this major exhibition which brings together some 140 ensembles and numerous documents, is particularly innovative in its theatrical staging and multimedia approach through models driven by a Quebec company UBU.
