The World Festival of Puppet Theatre is the best known and largest of its kind and has the variety and richness of this art around the world and offers visitors unique and unforgettable moments. Taking place in Charleville- Mézières and founded in 1961 , the Festival has continued to grow throughout his seventeen editions. Thanks to Felix Jacques , a passionate amateur and indefatigable discoverer , the Festival of Charleville -Mézières became the rendezvous of the puppeteers, programmers and audiences worldwide . For ten days , the whole town lives to the rhythm of the Festival. Rooms , streets , yards, become venues . All techniques, all genres and all searches are available: wire to the sheath , the shadow bunraku , the object on the screen , small intimate form giant puppet performances alongside traditional ... the most modern forms , meeting a wide range of audience. Every 3 years since 1976 , the festival became biennial in 2009.
