Costa Rica’s capital and largest city, San José is the starting point for your wilderness adventure. Striking contrasts, between warmly colored buildings rich in history and more contemporary constructions. With its new-found effervescence, you’ll be able to get the full flavour of the Central – and even South – American atmosphere!
Pick up your vehicle and depart for Arenal, the national park with its famous volcano. A volcano that made a spectacular comeback with its devastating eruption in 1968. Take the road to Bijagua, where you’ll have the chance to see the Celeste River in Volcan Tenorio National Park and its waterfalls. Further afield is the Miravalles volcano in the Guanacaste volcanic cordillera. A few hours of hiking are still possible. Why not add a horseback or quad ride to the mix?
Rent bikes and go for a bike ride, with landscaped areas for a pleasant ride through forests, mountains and waterfalls.
