Day 1: Waecicu – Rinca Island – Kalong Island

Labuan Bajo Airport – Port (3 km): 10 minutes Approx. sailing time to Rinca: Approx. sailing time to Kalong

Take your morning flight to Labuan Bajo, the town at the western end of Flores. Welcome by your local guide and private transfer by car to the port.

Recommended flights with Garuda Indonesia from Denpasar (Bali) to Labuan Bajo GA7026, departing at 07:20 and arriving at 08:55.

The beautiful schooner is waiting at the private jetty near Labuan Bajo. After boarding, watch the wind blow through the sails and start sailing on the translucent waters towards the island of Rinca in Komodo National Park. Relax on board and enjoy the ocean breeze for the next three hours until your arrival.

Although smaller and more mountainous, the island of Rinca is home to more dragons than Komodo, and is the best place to observe these emblematic beasts. Start your hike at the ranger station near the jetty and a small lagoon. Guided by an experienced ranger, the trek takes you to a well-known haunt of the Komodo dragons. Most of the time, they can be seen relaxing in the shade or under the stilt houses of the local population. Don’t be fooled by their seemingly calm demeanor, these are real dragons! Watch them carefully and take photos.

After the hike, return to the boat and head for Kalong Island, where the boat will moor for the night. Kalong is known for its mangrove forest and as “home to a thousand bats”.

All meals will be served on the boat.

Overnight on board.

Day 2: Komodo Island – Pink Beach – Manta Point

Early in the morning, the boat leaves for Komodo Island. After breakfast, another hike awaits you. Despite their proximity, the islands of Rinca and Komodo have extremely different landscape features. While Rinca is quite mountainous and challenging, Komodo is much flatter. In addition to dragons, Komodo is also home to a range of frequently seen animals, such as deer, wild boar and numerous birds. Follow the advice of a local forest ranger in this spectacular nature reserve.

After the hike, venture out for some snorkeling and relax at the UNESCO-recognized Pink Beach (Pantai Merah). The pink beach is made up of fragments of red coral that have washed up on its shores over the millennia.

Lunch is served on board.

In the afternoon, visit Manta Point. Also known locally as Karang Makassar, Manta Point is a place where manta rays can often be seen. It’s a well-known dive site for this reason, and snorkeling is on the agenda again this afternoon.

These majestic marine creatures are endangered, and efforts are being made to protect them from illegal fishing practices. Although manta ray sightings cannot be guaranteed, Manta Point offers some of the best chances of seeing them. As well as manta rays, you can also see turtles, eagle rays, giant trevallies, huge clams, various kinds of sponges and cuttlefish.

Back on board, enjoy a drink and an unforgettable sunset. Dinner is served on board as you slowly make your way to Siaba for the night. Overnight on board.

Day 3: Kanawa – Sabolon Island – Labuan Bajo

In the morning, after breakfast, join a snorkeling safari around Kanawa Island, famous for its colorful coral reef. Then head to another magnificent snorkeling site around Sabolon Island, an uninhabited island whose surrounding reef is considered one of the most dazzling snorkeling sites in Indonesia.

Continue sailing to Labuan Bajo for departure and disembarkation around midday. Transfer to the airport for onward travel or possible extension to Labuan Bajo.

Recommended flights with Garuda Indonesia from Labuan Bajo to Denpasar (Bali) GA7027, departing at 4:00 pm and arriving at 5:30 pm.
