Days 1 to 3: Luxor

Arrival of your flight and transfer by cab to your hotel, where you will stay for 2 nights.

Do you dream of living the life of a Pharaoh or the life of a queen, perhaps, for example, the delicious Cleopatra? Of course, you’re a little late. These dynasties are long since buried in the grave.

Today, however, Al Moudira offers you the chance to stay in the luxury of a modern temple and be treated like a king in a setting that is bound to be sumptuous. Recently built, the Al Moudira hotel stands on the west bank of the Nile, home to some of the most beautiful ancient sties. This modern-day palace is just a few minutes from the Valley of the Kings, where the most famous pharaohs – Seti I, Ramses II and Tutankhamun – rested until their sarcophagi were exhumed and looted, revealing their magnificence. The hotel is located on the border between fields and desert. Sugar cane farmers have been working the land in the same way as their ancestors for thousands of years. This simplicity, so common here, contrasts with this grand hotel, a veritable work of art in a land of countless wonders. Its walls enclose a lush garden, where jasmine and henna perfume the air. Perhaps we can use these photos as a new kind of hieroglyphs, those ancient drawings which, once deciphered, revealed the way of life of another civilization. Let this extraordinary mosaic of images speak for itself.

Day 4: El Kab

Early departure from Luxor (at 6:30 am) for El Kab where you board your Dahabhie “Aswan”, on the eastern bank of the Nile, which was once the capital of Upper Egypt and is still home to the temple of Nekhbet, as well as a row of fascinating decorated tombs carved into the mountain slope. After mooring, you’ll embark on a beautiful walk through a small fishing village to visit the necropolis.

In the afternoon, the boat arrives at Edfu, home to the Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the god Horus. This is one of the best-preserved of all Egyptian temples. Horse and carriage take you to the temple through the streets of the occupied city. After returning to the boat, you embark for a magnificent island.

Day 5: El Kab, Sailing and Swimming

This is a day dedicated to the river: immediately after an optional morning walk and breakfast, you can set sail in the afternoon, stopping at an island for a walk or a swim in the Nile. As dusk begins, there may be an opportunity to walk through the desert along a valley lined with rocks covered with ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and Stone Age inscriptions. These images mark the start of the shortest route across the desert to Libya (28 days in ancient times). At night, the boat stops at the foot of the illuminated temple of Gebel Silsileh.

Day 6: Jebel Silsileh

It is here, between two mountain ranges, that the Nile is at its narrowest. Discover the impressive quarries, famous since antiquity. Most of the Pharaonic temples were built in this brilliant stone. Visit the temple and funerary chapels carved out of the rock. Stroll along the Nile, stop off at an Egyptian café. Lunch on board, departure for Kom Ombo. Night on the shores of a silent island.

Day 7: Kom Ombo

After a night on the water and under the stars, the morning journey takes you to the town and temple of Kom Ombo. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic period on the site of an ancient temple and at one of the most beautiful spots on a bend in the river. The temple was dedicated to Sobek the crocodile-headed god. After enjoying the temple, you will leave for Aswan by private car. On arrival, check into hotel for 2 nights.

Day 8: Aswan

Wake up to magnificent desert and river views from the Aswan Bridge. Day at leisure to enjoy the services of your hotel.

Day 9: Aswan

Wake up to magnificent desert and river views from the Aswan Bridge. Here your journey comes to an end. You’ll leave the hotel early to catch your flight to Paris (via Cairo).
