A simply decorated 1 bedroom haven in the prettiest village in Montenegro! Original stone walls frame a lovely vista over church bells towards the tranquil bay. A few minutes' walk down pretty steps are the waterfront restaurants and calm swimming spots. Free parking just off the road above. Gorgeous views from the open-plan living and dining room. The renovated apartment has kept a rustic feel with exposed stonework, oak flooring and hand made rugs. There is everything you need for cooking great meals, toys and games, books to browse and plenty of local information. There is small shady patio (at the back) filled with potted plants and a lemon tree where you can have a BBQ or enjoy a cool beer. Pretty stone steps and and a path strewn with orange trees lead down to the shoreline a few minutes away. Here you will find a small local shop selling groceries, wine and beer and plenty of waterfront cafes and restaurants. There is a nice spot to swim down the steps and a few minutes to the left. Be aware it's a large bay rather than the seaside. So there is no sand, but instead stone jetties to sunbathe on and the water is very clear and lovely to swim in. Beaches are 25 minutes away by car. From the village square you can take a boat to the picturesque islands or to the other side of the bay. Guests will have the apartment and patio to themselves. Living Room: Open plan living area with wooden dresser, sofa and dining area which seats 4 and an oak breakfast bar looking out across the bay. There are books, a speakers for ipod/iphone and plenty of local information to browse. Internet is via a USB dongle which you need to add credit to and plug into a lap top. Bedrooms: One double bedroom with views out to the garden patio. Hanging rails for clothes storage. There is a sofa bed in the lounge but this is not great for everyday use. Its tricky to open and close, so the apartment is best suited to a couple. There is a folding baby cot. Bathrooms: Mosaic tiled bathroom with small bath, shower and WC. Water comes from an external tank and is not high pressure. Kitchen: Kitchen equipped with full size cooker, fridge and washing machine. The owner loves cooking so there are plenty of cooking utensils and recipe books. I'm based in London. Guests who book for 5 nights or more have a 'meet and greet service' provided by a very good local agency included in the rental cost. In this case you will be met at the entrance to Perast and taken to the apartment, shown round and have everything to do with the apartment explained in person. You will also get a complimentary bottle of wine. Representatives from 'Remote Control' will be on hand if you have any problems and can help with transport arrangements / car hire should you wish. If you stay for 3-5 nights the meet and greet service is not included. You can choose to pay an additional fee or make your own way to the apartment and use our house manual to find your way around. I will also respond to any messages as quickly as possible, but please note that I can't make international calls to answer your questions. Perast is often described as the prettiest village in Montenegro. There are no modern buildings - just an interesting mix of old stone fisherman's houses, Venetian palaces and Baroque churches, spread along a road by the waters edge. Lots of tiny stone paths take you up the hillside to more traditional houses and churches. it's blissfully quiet but within easy driving (or busing) distance of Kotor's Old Town, and just a bit further from Sveti Stefan's famous beaches and the mountainous national parks. The apartment is up high with a good view across the bay, it's a quiet location but just a couple of minutes from the fab waterfront restaurants and cafe's. It's about 20 mins and €1.5 by bus into the beautiful walled town of Kotor. Taxis cost about €8-10. The nearest airport is Dubrovnik (in Croatia) an hour and a half away. Ryan air now offers very cheap flights to the capital Podgorica - 1.5/2ours away by car. You can take a local boat €5-10 to the small islands across to the other side of the bay. Handy off road parking is available on the road a few metres above the apartment. Otherwise there is a pay parking spot just outside the village. ( non residents cars are not allowed to drive through the village centre in the summer). There's no WiFi, but an internet dongle is provided, which needs to be topped up by buying credit from a local shop. Alternatively, a couple of Perast's bars and restaurants have WiFi. The meet and greet service is provided by a local agency, this costs 55 Euros but is included in rentals of 5 days or more. There is an extra charge of €25 (payable direct to the local agency) should you need to arrange the meet and greet outside of their normal office hours (8am-7pm, Monday to Saturday). Sundays are outside of normal office hours. Please note that this applies to check out times as well – but there is only one charge even if both arrival and departure are out of normal hours. A lot of steps need to be climbed or descended to reach the apartment. Its tiring in the warmth of the sun and requires a torch at night (bring your own, just in case) These steps could be an issue for anyone with mobility problems. The patio is behind the apartment and so it doesn't get as much sun and lacks sea views. The double sofabed can be tricky to maneuver, so it's best for occasional use, not everyday opening and closing. If you need it, it can be made up for for your arrival
