Today’s Bjørke family is the eighth generation located at the Hauge farmstead. Directly next to the reception you will discover a local Viking grave. Vikings were buried in mounds and often had items placed with them in the ground such as favorite pets, weapons, armor and even ships and horses along with symbolic and often decorative items of power. The oldest building on the property is the barn which was built in 1655. Today it houses some of the guestrooms. The farm itself was a part of the Lyse Monastery (Lysekloster), a wealthy and powerful religious community founded by Bishop Sigurd from Bergen. At one time they governed over 200 farms in the local area. Bjørnefjorden Gjestetun is located at Hague farm in Os, a 30 minute drive south of Bergen. The Guesthouse has 35 bedrooms in addition to meeting facilities, party venues, sitting rooms with fireplaces and a lovely restaurant. The farmstead was once owned by the Lyse Monastery (Lysekloster) which was established in 1146. The stead contains five houses and the view over the fjord is simply breathtaking.
