Kolarbyn was founded in the winter of 1996 , the villagers of Skinnskatteberg decided to build a collection of traditional forest huts on the shore of Lake Skärsjön . The idea was to create the conditions for people interested in burning coal to practice their techniques as it was practiced in the region for centuries. And then there are 6 or 7 years , Marcus has reopened Kolarbyn with different huts to live in nature. This is a truly magical feeling to wake up in the morning, light the fire and hear the birds singing. They do not want our visits, they just want to be here. Kolarbyn is called " the most primitive hotel in Sweden" . It is a natural refuge for silence, wilderness and adventure in a beautiful forest setting just a few hours drive from the capital Stockholm. Huts and the forest around them is something really unique. There is no other place like it. There is no electricity, only candles and a crackling fireplace that will guide you to sleep. And after the silence of the night you wake up slowly for birds and a refreshing swim in the lake. This is really fascinating.
Isolation mat, Sheep skin rugs, Candles and matches, Firewood for self-cutting, Fresh water to be fetched from the spring, Access to fire places, Primitive kitchen facilities and equipment, Dish place with running water in the creek, Waste separation bins for recycling, Access to big hut with tables and 45 seats (if not occupied).
