Explore the beautiful natural park of the Cevennes on foot or by donkey. During prehistory, the traces of the first settlements are towards Meyrueis and the Aigoual massif and Lingas and date back to Paleolithic (400 000 BC). After the Neolithic and the end of nomadism, this is the beginning of the sedentary agro-pastoral civilization (circa 4500 BC). From 2500 BC, hundreds of menhirs and dolmens were erected, dotting the peaks and slopes of the Causses and Mont Lozère. The Cévennes National Park was designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1985. The foundation of a biosphere reserve is to reconcile biodiversity conservation, economic and social development, maintenance of cultural values associated with them.
