You will be mesmerized by the swirling dances, costumes, lighting and hypnotic music, the Buddhist festival of Paro Tsechu, the largest in Bhutan. Join thousands of devotees to the fortress monastery of the 16th century Paro Dzong, located in the lush valley of Paro, with pure forested mountains. Paro Dzong sits on the site of a holy temple built by Guru Rinpoche, who arrived on the back of a tigress in his crusade from Tibet to Bhutan more than a millennium ago. He was born on the tenth day of the lunar month, when the tsechu (festival) is held in his honor, and it is said that he will appear riding on the sun's rays.
