Off the coast of the China Sea, the country divided into two distinct lands, part of which is shared with Indonesia, is a real gateway to travel. When you arrive, you’re greeted by a breath of warm, humid air. Here, you can stay in a hotel 300 meters above the ground, in one of the towers towering over Kuala Lumpur; go adventuring in Borneo, in the jungles of Sarawak and Sabah; or go out to meet ethnic groups.
We’ll go from a mountain air to Cameron Highlands, with its misty peaks, which can be explored on treks. Then we’ll stay on the eastern islands, for some snorkeling at Pulau Perhentian. We’ll finish off with a paradise atmosphere on the beaches of Pulau Langkawi, nicknamed the “jewel of Kedah”, or Pulau Tioman.
Malaysia is also a melting pot of cultures, thanks to its location and history: an economy that has been largely supplanted by China, but whose population is part of the scenery, notably in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown district; Hindu religious monuments such as the Batou Grotto; Arab culture, which plays a part in the religious tendencies of the local population; and, of course, the indigenous culture as you move deeper into the hinterland, typical of the Asia-Pacific region (Indonesia in particular).
