Brody 10 was built in 1896 in accordance with the preferences of Dr. Vilmos Tauffer, a pioneering medical practitioner, who used it as his city residence, office and practice in the heart of what was the glamorous and exclusive 'Palace Quarter'. At the time, the building held one of the country's finest and most complete medial libraries while standing next door to the Hungarian parliament before it was relocated. The building survived the ravages of the twentieth century and still stands today despite the Second World War, the Hungarian uprising of 1956 (which started at the Hungarian radio station situated a few doors down Brody Sandor street) and fifty years of neglect and poor maintenance during Communism. The Brody House team are gradually working to restore Brody 10 to its former glory, not withstanding the local challenges and obstructions. This hidden charming building in the heart of Budapest was built at the end of the 1800s as a residential property. Today we house artist studios, a gallery and event space. This palatial town house in the heart of Budapest was built by Count Blaskovich as his city residence and stables for his, and the country's, beloved race horse, Kincsem (the word for 'my treasure' in Hungarian).
