In a harmless battle paintings, faces Cascamorras tradition, a character reminiscent of the medieval minstrels, the people of Baza and Guadix. Guadix and Baza, in Granada province, live in September one of the most anticipated of the year: the Cascamorras. The origin of this festival dates back to the Middle Ages, when the appearance of the image of the Virgen de la Piedad led to the estrangement between the two locations. Finally, the Virgin remained in Baza. September 6 and all the Cascamorras, a jester dressed in brightly colored costumes, went to Guadix Baza with intent to steal the sculpture of the Virgin de la Piedad. But the inhabitants of Baza deter them by throwing paint, and continue in frantic races through the streets of the village. September 9, its purpose could not be reached, the return to Guadix Cascamorras without the image of the Virgin, which will cause the wrath of its people, who continue and throw him back to painting. Among all these lawsuits, the Cascamorras made several stops to rest, and took the opportunity to waving the flag of the Virgin de la Piedad above the people who kneel around him. Apart from painting, another essential element of the festival, dating back over five centuries is the water used to cool the participants during the prosecution.
