The Cipotegato is the main character of the festivals of Tarazona. All August 27th, from 12:00, he traveled the city in a rain of tomatoes. Disguised as a harlequin, it opens a passage through the crowd that invaded the streets and eventually transform the way Cipotegato into a real battle of tomatoes. The route is known as Cipotegato, even if it comes and goes always to the Plaza de España. Once there, he drove to a monument erected in his honor at the cry of "Cipote, Cipote!". He then attaches a scarf which marks the kickoff of the fiestas of Tarazona. The program, which runs until September 1, includes dances, performances by bullfighting, pasacalles (parades), a bubble bath, folk dances ... Mass in honor of St. Attila, chief of the town, stands the August 28.
